Nobody wants it now
Xbox are failing at 33%, nobody wants the horror of having to deal with unreliability. We put up with that in Windows, and now you are putting up with it in Xbox. Xbox == PC games, deliberated locked onto a console (architecture changed) to lock in publishers. The only reason Microsoft extended the warranty is: without it, sales were hurting. Not because 'they heard you' as they claimed with IE7. It is a stop-gap maneuver, lowest cost, keep the sales up, cement an anti-gamer ... [read more]

Pro: Video Game Sequels

Sequels are what people want
You can't necessarily fault developer's for not bringing newer ideas to market at least commercially. The decisions to fund a project come from publishers for the most part. With the usual costs of developing a game commercially being as high as they are, the publishers don't want to take that risk, hence, the wave after wave of clones. Occasionally you will find someone that takes a risk, but there aren't enough publishers willing to do that.

Sony finally coming to its senses?
Is Sony finally figuring out that the high-end technology market is not as big as they originally thought? Now that sales for the PS3 have died down in Europe (probably sooner than Sony hoped) they finally are looking at changing their pricing strategy.
While Sony should be commended on having plenty of consoles for the European launch, this also left retailers with way too much stock in their warehouses. Stores across Europe are ... [read more]

What If Each System Takes A Territory?
The current video game race has been quite a trip. A year ago many people thought Nintendo was done for, Microsoft didn't have a chance in trying to topple Sony, and Sony was on the road to making the best selling system ever. Now we have a truly epic battle from the big three for each territory, and it may end up with each system getting one.
Microsoft's best advantage has been their year lead on Sony and their continual ... [read more]

Europe PS3 sales have given me hope
Sony has done excellent so far in Europe, selling half a million units in 2 days and breaking many video games sales records across the continent. This seems like the PS3 might actually be on an upswing and publishers will stop jumping ship. It will be quite interesting if each system is big in one territory.

Big PSP news coming soon
A recent report explains that retailers have gone to Sony to tell them to drop the price of the PSP or they will take it off their shelves for good. Obviously Sony needs to do something because if the PSP goes off the shelf, it's game over. However, apparently Sony announced something to retailers that has them excited.
No one is sure what the big news is, but if it turned the retailers from wanted to get rid of the PSP, to ... [read more]

Exciting and Cool
Sounds like Sony is finally doing something interesting with their online service. A virtual world where you go to different locations to chat and play online games with others sounds great. The future expansion of this world is only limited to Sony and third party imagination.
Home sounds far superior to Xbox Live, and of course the 'barely there' Nintendo Wii online service. Having your own virtual house to show off your ... [read more]

The quickest way to a price drop
Sony cannot take out most of the components in the PS3 without severely hampering new games on the system, so the only thing left is to take out the PS2 backward compatibility hardware. This is the most likely way to give Sony more breathing room for a price drop, which is a difficult decision for Sony given they are losing money on the hardware already.
I know those in Europe would disagree with the move, but it is probably in ... [read more]

Sony finally realizes what is needed, a price-cut
Sony finally realized what they need to do to boost PS3 sales...a price-cut. They are now considering a lower price the the system for this coming year to help boost sales and return Sony's game division to profitability.
That may seem very counter-intuitive since they are already losing money on the system, but it will be much better for Sony in the long run if they get more systems in the hands of consumers. The benefits for Sony ... [read more]

Pro: Best PS3 Games

Resistance Fall of Man
This is obviously the best PS3 game. Most of the others are ports that look better than on the 360. I know it will take time for developers to get used to the hardware, but it leaves Resistance as the only must-have game for PS3.

Backward compatibility still WAY better than 360
200 games may sound like a lot, but it's less than 2.5% of Sony's classic game library. And out of the 200, most of the problems are sound glitches, which makes this a minor nuisance and nothing like the 360 backwards compatibility debacle.
While Sony was proclaiming 100% backward compatibility with their earlier systems, this does not put a huge dent in their reputation. It is being blown way out of proportion by the mainstream media since they feel the need to follow internet ... [read more]

PSone games finally listed
Albeit, in Japan, but it finally means that the PSP is going to have PSone games downloadable. This will definitely breathe more life into the handheld that's on life support.
Ever since Sony announced that Psone games would be downloadable to the PSP, I have waited for the day it would actually happen with bated breath. There are so many PSone classics that I would like to play while I'm out and about. Some of the best RPGs were on the original Playstation, and I'd love to live ... [read more]

PS3 will overtake Wii in Q4 2007
A study by Enterbrain Inc. explains that the PS3 will survive its initial drought of consoles and surpass the Wii during the holiday season of 2007.
Sony has some of the most passionate fans that will stick through the console problems with the knowledge that they will eventually have the best games. Most people will hold out buying the PS3 until the kinks are worked out and more games are available, but there is a tons of people that plan on buying the system.

Don't really see the argument here
The only logic I see in this argument is that the first day sales mean nothing for a video gmae system. And I would agree. This, however, does not mean Sony is going to fail.
