Con: Xbox 360

Nobody wants it now

Xbox are failing at 33%, nobody wants the horror of having to deal with unreliability. We put up with that in Windows, and now you are putting up with it in Xbox. Xbox == PC games, deliberated locked onto a console (architecture changed) to lock in publishers. The only reason Microsoft extended the warranty is: without it, sales were hurting. Not because 'they heard you' as they claimed with IE7. It is a stop-gap maneuver, lowest cost, keep the sales up, cement an anti-gamer influence in the market to exploit it for money. Sony, for all the narkiness of recent activity, have given us PS1, PS2, real, thoroughbred games machines that define the industry. Perhaps XBox through all their cards in to get market traction as a first on the scene. The tech stinks, and the lifespan will be limited. But Microsoft will push YAXBC (yet another Xbox console) to try and keep people from buying up PS3's. Playstation is about real steps forward, Xbox is about securing market share through any means possible. That difference in philosophy is important. The PS3 will still outspec the next Xbox. The Xbox 360 is 2.4G, the PS3 is 3.5G, erring on 4G already. PS2 is still a best selling console. All the new releases are coming out for it. If you have a choice between Wii, Xbox, or PS2, the choice is obvious, GET A PS2. If you have a choice between any and PS3, go for PS3. Xbox are selling cheap boxy cars to the US market, PS3 are selling Ferraris, so you can imagine initial sales are slower, but if you have the chance to get in on the Ferrari, go for it.
