Listen it was truely neccessary
In order to take future advantage of the ps3's cell processor at a rate appeasing to the public it was neccessary to put in blue ray. Otherwise games such as MGS 4, Lair, Killzone, ect. would not be the same. Besides high def (which is awsome) the blue ray was placed for memory storage issues. 1 level of Killzone is 2 gigs of memory, make 25 levels and thats 50gigs of memory (rather that 5 HD DVDs or 6 dvds wouldn't you rather 1 blue ray disc?). It was neccessary, Lair cost a whole 25gigs of memory, that's alot more than any other disc can handle without using 3. It's pushing the future into the use of blue ray for a good game cause. Just wait and you'll see. The turtle wins the race.
