you say that people wont be able to afford this console if they were "smart" with thier money? if everyone was smart with their money they could finance the system no problemo, and youre comparing the entire population as if they have a budget extremely close to yours. maybe you should make some more money if the cost is whats deterring you. as for power, the average desktop uses around 350-400 watts, a gaming desktop uses 500+, and sure, the wii uses about half of that at full load, but the wii is also designed to on 24/7, always ready for its wii updates, where i hardly ever keep my ps3 on when im not using it. which is 20-22 hours of the day.

if youre ready for some math, here;

wii runs at 15-20 watts, average it at 17.5, for 24 hours is 420 watts a day

the ps3 will run about 2-4 hours a day, going between 200 and 380 so lets average at 290, x3 hours is 870, only twice as much as the wii, sure its twice as much power, but in terms of an electric bill, its not that noteable of a difference
