We better hope none of the big 3 fail

Why? Microsoft had to take (at least) 6 years of million dollar losses to get its foot in the door. I don't think there is another company who would take that kind of risk (well, maybe Google). Attention fanboys from all sides, competition is our friend.
We should all know by now that competition is good for the video game industry. If there was no competition, then we would not see new consoles every 5 or so years. Developers would never push the envelope in their games and the medium would be stagnant. Each of the big three wants to win, and that ends up being a win for gamers.
