Pro: Xbox 360 Elite

Countering the Gamepro Anti Elite Article
Since Gamepro is against anything that is not made by Sony, I shouldn't be surprised, but some of their arguments were downright absurd. I do agree that it doesn't have everything it should, but its still a nice setup.
I will go though each one of their points and look at the flaws in logic:
1. Three 360s is one too many.
I believe choice is better and I think the normal consumer agrees with me. The Elite model is geared towards hardcore gamers, video downloaders, and video-philes; hence the bigger hard drive, HDMI, and high price tag. I don't think your normal consumer is going to be confused, because he won't even be looking at this model as an option.
2. It's still cheaper than the PS3
Now this point is ridiculous. If the Elite model was cheaper than the other 360s, this would make since. However, since when does one company need to have a higher price of a competing device to be considered 'elite' versus its other models?
3. No wireless networking
I do agree that this would have been a nice option, but its not totally necessary. It would have added to the cost (and then it would have made Gamepro happier because the price would be closer to the PS3...) and it might have been a tight squeeze inside the already packed console interior.
4. The current 10 million 360 owners are getting the shaft.
Maybe a little, but not really. The 10 million 360 owners have been enjoying their games for many months. By their logic, price cuts would be 'shafting' all the previous console owners. Gamepro must not understand video game hardware, because developers don't need to do anything differently for the Elite model that they don't already do. So what if Live is optimized for 20GB hard dirves? That doesn't mean there won't be tons more content that could be downloaded to a 120GB hard drive.
5. It will still be really loud.
Yup. It will be the same loudness of the other models. Making it quieter would have made it more expensive (which Gamepro seems to want).
6. No HD-DVD bundle.
Once again, it would have upped the price and isn't totally necessary. Games will never be on HD-DVD, and this unit seems more geared towards downloading content anyway. If someone wants HD-DVD support, they can still buy the add-on.
7. Someone tell Microsoft that white is the “new black.”
Well, someone tell Gamepro a lot of people like black consoles and they can now have a choice.
8. The machine isn't intended for gamers.
Maybe not, but hardcore gamers will buy it. Downloads will be getting bigger and bigger, so a 120 GB hard drive will be nice. HDMI is a nice, easy, high quality TV connector. Maybe the Elite isn't for everyone, but that is why Microsoft has different models.
It seems like Gamepro's main problem is that Microsoft is calling the system 'Elite'. While the new model is not overly expensive like the PS3, it is 'Elite' over the other 360s. Hardcore gamers will pick up this machine, and they will enjoy the enhancements and Gamepro will keep publishing pro-Sony propaganda.
