Pro: Video Game Violence
VT massacre not caused by video games
When will main stream media stop covering morons like Jack Thompson, who blame video games for all of society's ills. The shooter was a very disturbed individual who took it upon himself to go and kill many innocent people. Video games did not make this maniac go on a killing spree.
The killer was a loner who wrote violent and disturbing essays for a writing class. He got in trouble twice for stalking girls on the VT campus. His writing teacher told the school administration she would quit if this mentally ill individual was not removed from her class.
He obviously had many problems, and maybe he didn't get the help he needed, but that is no reason for the main stream media to blame video games. Millions of gamers play violent video games all the time, and they don't go out on shooting rampages. Actually, violent deaths have dropped since the 1990s despite the enormous growth of video games.
Hopefully this will blow over soon and the media will go hound something else for society's problems. Maybe, if they focused on helping improve society with education, mentoring, etc, they would actually do some good.
