Playstation 2 was the first system to offer the ability to play games from your old system. Right now that's one of the key reasons to go foor the playstation 3 over xbox 360. You don't lose the ability to play all your playstation 2 games. They're losing int he market right now, if they took out backward compatability, PS3 would surely die. They do need to take the price down, but they have to do it in a way that doesn't shoot themselves in the foot.
