Just a lame Mii too service

The avatar creation sounds like a Mii too service and the online 3D world will probably be just be a huge online advertisement for Sony and third party publishers. Sony will probably be charging via micro-transactions for anything cool that people might actually want in their private area. Sounds to me like a lame MMO with no fighting (the only thing cool in MMOs).

If I wanted to spend time walking to an arcade to play a game, I'd do it in real life. However, obviously gamers (myself included) would rather get right to playing games, which is why arcades have been on the downfall. Gamers don't want to mess around in a 3D world where all they get to do is 'talk'. We want to get right into the games and play multiplayer without delay.

It will also be interesting how Sony and other publishers will try to squeeze more money out of you with micro-transactions. You can get a plain t-shirt, but if you want to wear a cool one, oh that'll be $0.99. Your 'private area' home is nice and spacious, but there's nothing to do there unless you spend some real money for virtual stuff (furniture, tv, stereo, etc). I must admit, there are people out there who would do this, but those people don't have a PS3.

If you've ever played an MMO, you'd know there are times when you are about ready to go on a mission (to actually playing the game) and one or more in your team just wants to stand there and talk. I wouldn't want to put up with that. This service just means that less people will be playing games online with the PS3.

Ever heard of The Sims Online? Playstation Home is almost exactly like it. The Sims Online hasn't been doing good, so I'm not sure why Sony thinks theirs will do any better. Besides, the people that play The Sims are not the same people that bought the PS3. PS3 owners are hardcore gamers that want to play games, not sit around and chat.

All Sony has done is create a 3D online menu where you have to travel to each menu item. Not only that, but you can be interrupted trying to 'select' a menu item by other people who are online. Do you like it when a waiter/waitress keeps bugging you while you look at a menu at a restaurant? Didn't think so.
