Pro: Wii Sports 2 in development?

Reason to buy a new system

With the exception of hard-code gamers that just have to have the best graphics and hardware available (which is obviously the PS3), is there really a compelling reason to purchase a next-gen system? Does the PS3 really offer anything new and exciting, or anything so enormously obvious and great that you just have to have it?

I started with an atari 2600. the NES was a huge advance over it, and I had to have it. Same with SNES over the NES, and then the PS1 over the SNES, and the PS2 over the PS1 (yes, I have all of these, and more).

I don't have the same view of the PS3. To me, the huge advance is the Wii -- I just can't wait to unwrap it on christmas (ok -- its for my kids, but I can't wait). I am excited because it represents something NEW and EXCITING over what I already have -- the PS3 does NOT represent anything new and exciting.

I think if PS3 was priced at $250 to match the Wii price, I would maybe purchase it (some better games would have to appear first), BUT, I would STILL purchase the Wii either way -- it just looks like it is a lot of fun (and to me, that's what video games are about - lots of fun).

Oh - and the virtual console (emulator) to me is AWESOME! Perfect - an emulator in a box! Genious.
