It's a no-brainer that Nintendo is working on the sequel to the game that made their system main-stream. Online is also an obvious addition, especially if Nintendo wants to make their online network as popular as the DS WiFi.

This will probably come out during holiday 2007 and be the big push for the online service. The game should be relatively easy to make, with the brunt of the work going into the control scheme (as it should). I actually see Nintendo making a new Wii Sports every year.

Although I would love to see an update for the current version of Wii Sports to make it online, I don't see Nintendo doing that. It would take a lot of extra programming to a game that was not meant to play online. The code would fill up the small 512MB internal flash memory and probably not be used as much as a game that would be built for online play from the ground-up.

I can't wait for Wii Sports 2, but we'll have some other sweet games to tide us throughout 2007, like Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3.
