Graphics and complexity?

I just read how the PS3 had better graphics because of a more powerful chip, that allowed for more complex style of gaming. Well, in my case, I don't care much for the graphics. If graphics were a key issue, then some old classics wouldn't still be lingering, being treasured by gamers such as myself. I got myself a Wii, and I love the simplicity behind the device. Point and go, is basically all you have to do. I don't have to memorize 8 different buttons, and worry about 2 seperate controlling devices at the same time. I don't care where a bullet hole went, or how long it stays there. I don't need to remember where I shot at something 2 hrs earlier, if I have to come back to the same spot. Here's another question, why do we need to know every detail of a person, unless we are playing a detective style game, where you have to find someone down to the mole on some guys forearm? One last note here, the Wii is $250, while the PS3 is anywhere from $400-600. I buy a Wii, plus a decent DVD player for around $30-$50 more, I still spent far less than a PS3 for pretty much what it does. A gaming system + a DVD system for $300-$350. Just saved the world $50-$250 right there.

Anyways, I say, keep it simple. Simple graphics, simple game play, yet with all the challenges that a game should provide, along with the fun. Zelda, Mario, Metroid, are a few examples of simple games that are treasures, simple to learn and use, with the fun and challenge that entertains some alot of us gamers. I will also look at Smash Brothers series. There is a fighting game that doesn't involve a series of 10 button combos to memorize, so I can hit a guy 20 times. With the Wii Remote, that will make that fighting game more interesting, as well as the Mario Party series, where we will definately get into the games, quite literally, can't wait for that.

Bottom line, gamers don't need all the extra graphics and complexities to make a game fun. "Wii" gamers get into the Wii cause that is what the console provides. All the simple game play, with the challenges that makes a game fun.
