Con: Playstation 3

100 Million People Already Have Consoles
Just because they sold millions upon millions of consoles in the past, doesn't mean the PS3 will be the conqueror of this generation-to-be. In fact, it may very well be Sony's Swan Song..
The PS2 had an admirable ($300) launch price that eventually dropped to a very affordable $130 price.. This is where every home-console should be, not too expensive. The Xbox 360 has sold about 7.2million units so far, and it's fans are paying a premium at $399 (the $299 core isn't really worth it IMO), yet the 360 is proving to be more powerful if not as powerful as the PS3 and many are picking it in favor of the PS3.
The PS3's $599 price tag pretty much murdered the unit, along with the late launch and few promising titles. Gundam is getting reviews as low as 2/10! This is not what Sony needs. I'm not saying that Sony is going bankrupt anytime soon, but they took the road less traveled -> market a system almost exclusively to the rich or hardcore market. I don't know about many families who can afford spending $600 on a system, then hundreds more on top of that for a Blu-Ray drive they don't need and technology that will no doubt go to waste.
The PS3 is reaching a market that reminds me of how the 3DO, TurboGrafx-16, ColecoVision ($600), Neo Geo ($700) and other high-ticket in-home consoles and how they will never be considered a marketing marvel. I see PS3 being among that list in the future. Even the PSP with it's better graphics than the Nintendo DS still can't keep up with Nintendo's built-for-fun attitude and cheap price.
Nintendo's Wii is one system that actually delivered and I'm proud to say I own one. It actually made me exile my Xbox 360 for awhile while I invest my time into Zelda. The price is perfect and although sometimes the remote can be tricky to get the hang of, it makes me wonder how we went so long without it.
Long live Wii, long live Xbox 360! Sony you can take your Betaray and bury them alongside all those ET cartridges!
