Pro: Playstation 3

I think many will agree very soon
You have brought up virtually all of the plus sides of the PS3. I owned the original XBOX killer, the PS2; like everyone else in the world! I now own the 360 and the PSP. Of the three consoles (well, maybe the PSP shouldn't be considered a console) my 360 has been riddled with problems. I love Gears of War, but after playing it since June, I just can't do it anymore! It seems as my 360 moves on in age (3 months old now) more and more quirks and failures appear during gameplay. I was rooked into buying Halo 3 and what a mistake. After beating it once, I can't play that horrible piece of crap anymore! Now don't get me started on Xbox Live... I have to admit, the interface is straightforward and simple to use. But to pay for it?! Give me a break! I haven't bought a single Live card and I don't intend on ever buying one. Microsoft is a money hungry monopoly already, I contribute enough when I bought the box and the games.
Yes, the PS3 is a bit expensive. Yes, its sales aren't doing so well at the moment. But this thing is just getting started. I foresee the PS3 rising above the ranks come next year. 360 fans, keep your eyes open. Microsoft will be jumping through hoops to keep you so take advantage while you can!! They already are by spending, what, $100 billion USD for *throat clearing* massive quantities of defective products... In other words, all of the 360s they've sold prior to the Elite series. Yeah, mine's defective too!
As for the Wii, it was all gimmick that just didn't work for me at all. I'm a bit too lazy to swing my arm around... Sorry, I just am your average video gamer. Its not even on the radar for me.
The 40GB PS3 is a paradox in itself; it isn't backwards compatable, but is the 360? I'll answer that: NO! It uses an emulator just as Sony is going to use. And if Sony's track record is any indication, it will be superior to the 360's. Why will this work? Because everyone has a PS2! If not, eBay has got one for you! Personally, I'll be getting the 60GB and upgrading the hard drive to a 200GB. It sold me due to its backwards compatability and all of the other amazing features of the PS3. But the 40GB just might level the playing field. Its about as much as the 360 Elite, yet, unlike the Elite, the PS3 plays High Definition Next-Gen DVDs, the ability to upgrade your hard drive to a much larger one at less than half the cost of MS's 120GB, Wi-Fi that doesn't cost an additional $99 USD, Bluetooth that is compatable with so many widely owned and used products from keyboards to headsets that it just is too awesome to put into words, and, lets face it, better graphics. It really is a great machine.
Call me a Sony fanboy, but I'll also be playing both until my 360 dies and I have to send it out for repairs... Then I'll be on the PS3 getting hooked just as any of us video game fans would! When the 360 comes back, if it comes back, it'll be there for exclusives. It has already hit its limits.
I feel that universally platform hopping games are really hurting us consumers. Everyone has to admit that each of the three game systems are not equal to eachother. The Wii is at the low end of the performance scale. The 360 its a huge hike ahead of the Wii. And the PS3 prettty much has the most potential.
Lets say a game company wants to be neutral. They want to make a game that trancends all the consoles. They can only work around the console that has the lowest performance: the Wii. This is gonna hurt the 360 and the PS3. We need console specific games! Look at Gears of War... Great game. But Epic has been paid so much by MS that they've spread lies about how Gears of War would never work on the PS3 due to its specifications... MS must have sent the Wii's specs to them. Ahh, what ever. They'll be plenty of other great games out there as long as we keep buying them!
You gotta love them all! But I still say the PS3 is going to surpass them all!
