Nintendo will win just by pure numbers

Nintendo will have between 4-9 million systems by years end (and with holiday buying hysteria, they will all sell) while Sony will only have at most 2 million (which also will sell out). I needed a calculator to figure this out...but if I punched the in right numbers...Nintendo wins!

The Wii is poised to be the fastest selling console in history. Not just because it has a huge hype machine, but they can make the systems fast and easy. They can get the maximum amount of product out for the mega important first holiday season. It is also the new hotness and the hype machine will make them sell out as quick as they can make them.

Playstation 3 also has tons of fans that want the system right away, but only 480,000 (unless they cut back even more) will be able to get it on launch day. You may not think so, but disappointed Sony gamers may actually go for the Wii with $600 dollars burning in their pockets. They want to get their game on this year, not wait to the middle of next year when supplies for the PS3 are better. Or the PS3 fans could go for the 360, seeing all the awesome looking games and big title selection.

I used to work at a Game store and every year, never fail, game systems sold out. Even the Gamecube sold out last year during the Christmas season. So systems will sell if they are on the shelves. The Wii will have a 3:1 or 4:1 lead over the PS3, coupled with the Wii is easier to program for and publisher can make easier profits, what system would you want to program for? That will lead to more games for the Wii and that's how you win a console war.
