Con: Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Ignoring Hammer, Disaster
A couple weeks ago at E3, Nintendo said that they have “shifted development resources,” meaning the best case scenario for those looking forward to the game is a major delay. Most likely, the game was sacked… hammered… pounded into the ground… or, as IGN so nicely put it, canceled.
So, Nintendo, who was heavily criticized during the Gamecube era of overusing its core franchises and characters and not creating many new ones (for each Pikmin or Animal Crossing, there must have been 4 games with “Mario” featured), is axing one of the few new adventures they announced for the Wii. Yeah, they’re coming out with games like Wii Sports and WiiFit, but we haven’t seen one new real “Nintendo-y” franchise yet. Both Hammer and Disaster: Day of Crisis were revealed at E3 in 2006, but with Hammer canned, and no word on Disaster at E3 ‘07, let alone the past several months, quite a few people are doubting whether Disaster will be released either.
It would be a huge mistake for Nintendo to not release Disaster and Hammer, so let’s hope that Hammer really was just put on hold for a couple months, and that more Disaster info is released soon. Wii can only take so Mario games, after all.
